Pathetic mugshot shows ‘drunk’ racist thug crying after arrest following hate-fueled tirade on a Texas beach comparing a Muslim-American family to ISIS terrorists
Alexander Downing, 35, of Connecticut, hurled abuse in South Padre Island
The horrified family had been staying at the three-star South Padre Pearl hotel
In a barrage of abuse, he shouted: ‘ISIS don’t mean s*** to me, motherf***er’
Astonishing video also showed him beating his chest shouting ‘Donald Trump’
Downing, who has been arrested before, was charged with public intoxication
Officers were called to the Pearl Resort and found Downing ‘intoxicated in a public place and a danger to himself and others’, South Padre Island Police told KVEO-TV.
Footage uploaded to YouTube by Noria Alward, 19, showed the squat American holidaymaker hurling abuse at her family as they were playing on a beach.
The family had been enjoying a holiday together at the three-star South Padre Pearl hotel, on South Padre Island.
The video showed Downing, dressed in a yellow vest and swimming shorts, jabbing his fingers aggressively at the family.
Downing – who has been arrested several times before – slammed a chair on the beach and squared up to the men, as their children made sandcastles on the beach.
Another holidaymaker tried to pacify Downing – who appeared to be intoxicated – as he screamed ‘Sharia law don’t mean s*** to me!’
However he then returned and Miss Alward, who is Muslim American, said he ‘became more aggressive and with more racial slurs’.
As he continued to hurl abuse, the family dialed 911.
In the astonishing footage, he shouted: ‘ISIS don’t mean s*** to me, motherf***er. Donald Trump, Donald Trump, motherf***er.’
He then shouted: ‘Suck my goddam d***, right there, right f***ing there, n****r’ before screaming ‘my f***ing country is the greatest country in the world’.
Thumping his chest he then threatened them, saying: ‘Donald Trump, motherf***er. Come f*** with Donald Trump. That’s my motherf***ing President.’
Miss Alward claimed that her father was approached by two women on the beach, asking him to help as Downing was ‘harassing’ them.
She wrote: ‘All my father said to the guy was, “Please enjoy your time and have fun and let everyone else here enjoy their time”.
‘The guy seemed to listen and walked away. He then came back to my father and started throwing racist comments.’
Downing has been arrested several times since 2003, court records show.
He has previously lived in New Hampshire, Florida and Spring, Texas.
Describing the incident, Miss Alward, who lives in Michigan, said: ‘While enjoying our time at the beach during a family reunion, our kids and us had to experience ugliness and aggressiveness in the worse shape and form possible.
‘After about 20 minutes of him going crazy, he went back to the hotel. The police then came back and they arrested the man at the hotel restaurant.’
However she said they spotted him back at the front desk of the hotel the following morning despite being assured by hotel staff that he would be evicted if seen again.
Speaking to MailOnline, her uncle Ahmed Alward said: ‘We had been enjoying the sunshine and water during our one week-long family reunion. There were 13 of us and three children, aged from two to four.
‘As a decent American citizen [what happened] made feel disgusted and in shock.
‘But I’d like to say that this man doesn’t represent the masses and he needs to be charged for what he’s done. I want to thank all the beach-goers that stood by our side. As you can see in the video the man with the black shorts…hats off to him.’
When asked about President Trump, he replied: ‘Trump was elected and is the president. He is my President.’
A spokesman for the hotel told MailOnline: ‘I have no comment to make at this time but we are taking it very seriously as it is not a positive thing for the resort.’
South Padre Island Police said it was ‘blatantly out of line’ for ‘Downing to ‘taunt and harass’ the family.
‘I was saddened,’ police chief Randy Smith told News Center 23. ‘I just want to say there is no way any of us here that work for the city would not tolerate anything like that.
‘We try to create an environment where people can come to the beach, have a good time and have a good time with their families and enjoy themselves.
‘The last thing we want is for someone to be harassed and taunted by an intoxicated subject that is blatantly out of line.’
